Dimitri Coutras

Dimitri graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Science (Honours) degree, majoring in Marketing and Economics.

He began his career at Stellenbosch Farmers Winery. He was there for 15 years and when he left he was heading up the Spirits Marketing Division, with responsibility for major International and local brands including Bells Whisky, Martell Brandies, Campari and Mainstay amongst others.

He left to join Cream Advertising as Account Director on the company’s major brands. In 1993 he joined Yardley of London as Marketing Manager of the Fragrance Division.

He left in 1996 to begin consulting. In this time he has worked on diverse projects in the wine, fruit and financial services industries where he has been involved in research, analysis of business opportunities/markets, brand building & developing strategies to achieve defined objectives.

He was involved with Kunye, an empowerment project operating in the design and craft industry, where he was responsible for the management of the company, exports, marketing, and mentoring staff to be able to take over the company.

Dimitri is currently the South African Associate for Wine Intelligence – an International Wine Research company based in London, which provides insight and information about wine consumers internationally.
